New Delhi, April 8 -- Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar Khichi has strongly opposed the Delhi Municipal Corporation's (MCD) move to impose Solid Waste Management user charges along with house tax, calling it an additional burden on the people of Delhi.
Khichi has written a letter to MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar demanding immediate withdrawal of these charges. He said that before implementing such user charges, the DEMS department of MCD should have taken approval from the House.
He further argued that until MCD is fully capable of door-to-door waste collection across Delhi, imposing such user charges is unjustified.
