New Delhi, Nov. 15 -- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi Government has approved a long-pending policy to provide compassionate employment to the dependents of victims of the 1984 Sikh riots.

Calling the decision a step symbolising relief, dignity, and justice, the Chief Minister said that many families had been waiting for economic rehabilitation for years, with the process stalled for nearly 18 years due to various reasons. The current government has now implemented the policy with "sensitivity and a sense of duty" so that no eligible family is forced to wait any longer.
