New Delhi, July 23 -- The Delhi Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has taken a historic decision to significantly enhance incentives for athletes, making Delhi the first state in the country to offer the highest cash rewards for Olympic and Paralympic medallists.

Under the revised scheme, athletes who win a gold medal at the Olympics or Paralympics will now receive Rs.7 crore, while silver and bronze medallists will receive Rs.5 crore and Rs.3 crore respectively. This marks a sharp increase from the previous rewards of Rs.3 crore, Rs.2 crore, and Rs.1 crore.
