The entire theatrics of holding an election in Gilgit-Baltistan is a sham from the word go. The manner in which Pakistan's highest court has extended its writ to G-B reeks of fallacy. A disputed territory, Gilgit-Baltistan has been occupied by Pakistan for over half a century in clear violation of international laws. Pakistan has no real sovereignty over G-B as it has usurped the region, imposed a democratic vacuum upon the people there and has denied them democratic participation.
