New Delhi, Dec. 4 -- On November 26, 2025, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulide signed a historic maritime agreement at the Baabda presidential palace near Beirut. The agreement demarcates the Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) of both countries in the Eastern Mediterranean. The final agreement comes almost two decades after the initial Cyprus-Lebanon EEZ Agreement was signed in January 2007, but could not be ratified by Lebanon due to the internal turmoil in the country and dispute with Israel. The dispute with Israel was finally resolved in 2022 after the US mediated talks.
