New Delhi, Sept. 10 -- Former Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan has been elected as the Vice President of India, securing 452 first preference votes against 300 votes polled by his rival, Justice B. Sudershan Reddy. Returning Officer P.C. Mody announced that Radhakrishnan won by a margin of 152 votes - the narrowest victory margin in a vice-presidential election in the past twenty years.

Radhakrishnan, a long-time member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was announced as the NDA's candidate for the election in August 2025.

He previously served as the Governor of Maharashtra (July 2024 - September 2025) and Governor of Jharkhand (February 2023 - July 2024).
