New Delhi, Aug. 6 -- A natural disaster in the form of a cloudburst in Dharali village in Uttarkashi district has resulted in 4 deaths and more than 50 missing.

The Indian Army's Surya Command has launched immediate rescue and relief operations in response to a massive mudslide that struck Dharali village in the Kheer Gad area near Harsil at approximately 1345 hrs on Tuesday. The sudden deluge of debris and water through the settlement has raised concerns about the extent of damage and casualties in the remote Himalayan region.

In a statement posted on X, Surya Command said:
