New Delhi, June 6 -- The Islamic extremist group Boko Haram has now been carrying an insurgency for 16 years in North East Nigeria and after a brief period of relative containment by the military forces, the group seems to be resurging again and engaging in violent activities. Since the start of 2025 Boko Haram has once again intensified its attack in north eastern Nigeria which comprises mainly of six states- Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe. Apart from the civilian killings, Boko Haram militants have also engaged on other acts of violence such as running over military posts, mining roads with bombs and conducting periodic raids on civilian populations.
