New Delhi, Dec. 23 -- Goa's ruling alliance, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), secured a decisive mandate in the zilla panchayat elections held on December 20.

The final results of the Goa zilla panchayat elections have confirmed a clear majority for the ruling alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the 50-member zilla panchayat, the BJP won 29 seats, while its ally, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), secured 3 seats, taking the alliance tally to 32 seats.

The Indian National Congress emerged as the main opposition with 10 seats, while the Goa Forward Party (GFP) won one seat. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also secured one seat.
