New Delhi, Jan. 20 -- A bill to extend reservation to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Lower House of the Parliament and state assemblies for another 10 years has been ratified by the Haryana Assembly on Monday, January 20.

This comes as the reservation for SCs/ STs given to them for the past 70 years in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, was about to end on January 25, 2020. The Parliament recently passed a constitution amendment bill, in regard with the same that requires ratification by at least 50 per cent of the assemblies before it becoming a law.
