New Delhi, July 23 -- A bill that proposes reservation of 75 per cent for locals of Andhra Pradesh for jobs in all joint ventures, factories and industries in the state, inclusive of those falling under public-private partnership has been approved by the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. With this move, Andhra Pradesh becomes the first state in the country to allow reservation for locals in private jobs.

The Andhra Pradesh Employment of Local Candidates in Industries/Factories Act, 2019, that was tabled in the Assembly on Monday not only is applicable to existing industries and factories in the state but will also be applied to those set up after the implementation of the law.
