New Delhi, Aug. 6 -- Amit Shah has officially become the longest-serving Union Home Minister in India's history, completing 2,258 days in office and surpassing the previous record held by Shri Lal Krishna Advani, who served 2,256 days in the role. Before them, India's first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, served for 1,218 days.

Shah's tenure has been defined by several bold and historic decisions, most notably the abrogation of Article 370, a robust crackdown on terrorism, and a strengthened framework for internal security.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged Amit Shah's landmark achievement during the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, commending his leadership and contributions to the nation's security and governance.
