New Delhi, July 13 -- As the number of Coronavirus cases keeps a constant rise, civic bodies in Maharashtra have put into place stricter lockdown restrictions that have been extended until July 19.

The municipal corporations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Aurangabad, and Solapur have also extended the stringent lockdown restrictions. A new round of lockdown restrictions has been imposed by Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Navi Mumbai - part of the densely populated MMR, until July 19.

While major cities in Maharashtra are undergoing stricter restrictions, Nagpur and Nashik civic bodies have warned the public of similar lockdown restrictions if overcrowding on streets goes out of control.
