New Delhi, May 22 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not accepting a proposal to install a portrait of Mata Savitribai Phule in the Delhi Legislative Assembly premises. The proposal was put forward during a meeting of the General Purposes Committee of the Assembly held earlier today.
According to AAP MLAs from Seemapuri and Seelampur, the suggestion to honour Savitribai Phule - a pioneer of women's education and a symbol of social reform - was dismissed by BJP members, who neither supported nor approved the proposal.
