New Delhi, June 21 -- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi in-charge Saurabh Bhardwaj levelled serious allegations of corruption and misconduct within the BJP-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Bhardwaj alleged that a BJP woman councillor has accused South Zone Chairman Umedh Phogat - also from the BJP - of threatening her, using abusive and obscene language, and making vulgar gestures. The most explosive charge, however, is the claim that Phogat himself admitted to paying Rs.70 lakh to the BJP to secure the position of South Zone Chairman.

"This is open and shameless corruption," Bhardwaj said. "Umedh Phogat has openly said he paid Rs.70 lakh to become chairman so he could loot the South Zone. Why haven't the CBI or ED taken up the case ...
