New Delhi, June 22 -- Hitting Mizoram in the early hours of Monday, June 22, an earthquake of 5.3 Magnitude caused destruction with damages to houses and cracks on roads at several places, an official said.

However, no casualties have been reported so far, the official of the state Geology and Mineral Resource Department has said. Adding further, he stated that the earthquake, the tremors of which were felt in several parts of the state, including state capital Aizawl, happened at 4.10 am, the epicentre of which was at Zokhawthar in Champhai district on the India-Myanmar border.
