New Delhi, Feb. 17 -- An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 hit New Delhi on the morning of February 17, 2025. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremor was recorded at 5:36 AM IST, with its epicenter at latitude 28.59degN and longitude 77.16degE, at a depth of 5 kilometers. Light tremors were felt across parts of the national capital and surrounding areas, causing momentary concern among residents.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X: " Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation."
