New Delhi, Oct. 14 -- A Delhi court has granted 10 days of interim bail to Khalid Saifi, founder of United Against Hate, allowing him to attend a family wedding and look after his ailing mother. Saifi is currently in custody in connection with a February 2020 riots case.
Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai heard Saifi's plea, in which he had requested 15 days' interim bail citing his niece's marriage and his mother's poor health.
The court noted that although the bride was not among Saifi's closest relatives, the relationship had been verified, as had the details of the marriage. Concerning his mother, the court observed that while no medical documents were produced, she is about 85 years old and generally in poor health.
