Kathmandu, June 4 -- Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has signed an agreement with Wanwang Digital Energy for import, installation and maintenance of 50 electric vehicle charging stations across Nepal.

The project is funded by theAsian Development Bank, at a cost of Rs378 million and will be completed next year. The new budget incentivised surplus electricity consumption by repealing a controversial tax hikeand excise duty on EV imports, while waiving five-year renewal taxes for those switching to EVs from petrol-diesel alternatives.
