Mumbai, Sept. 25 -- Toyoda Gosei, a Japan-based automotive component manufacturer, has confirmed the effective irradiation of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) using its deep ultraviolet (UV) LED technology. The experiment was conducted jointly with the Biomedical Science Association, a certified NPO, and showed these deep UV LEDs to be highly effective in inactivating the coronaviruses.

The technology that is broadly being used for the purification of water and air, has been under development since 2017.
