Rabat, March 23 -- King Mohammed VI sent emergency aid to the survivors of the Tropical Cyclone Idai that hit Beira, a large port city in Mozambique, killing hundreds with thousands still missing.

On the King's instructions, the Royal Armed Forces will deliver 39 tons of aid, including tents, blankets, and foodstuffs, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The King's move which follows an international call for aid by Mozambican authorities and reflects the strong "solidarity of the Kingdom of Morocco with the people of [Mozambique]," said the ministry.
