New Delhi, Dec. 6 -- India is all set to ban e-cigarettes after the Rajya Sabha on Monday passed the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (Production, Manufacture, Import, Export, Transport, Sale, Distribution, Storage and Advertisement) Bill, 2019 by a voice vote. The bill was earlier voted through by the Lok Sabha.

"We have done it with very pious intention and there is no vested interest of the government," health minister Harsh Vardhan said after some members claimed the bill was brought under pressure from the tobacco lobby. They demanded that the ban should also be applicable to tobacco and conventional cigarettes.
