New Delhi, March 27 -- Karti Chidambaram, 47, the Congress party's Lok Sabha candidate from Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu, sounds relaxed over the phone. Son of former Union finance minister P. Chidambaram, the Cambridge University educated politician however, is not relying on his family's legacy to win the seat. Karti, who is being questioned by investigating agencies for his alleged role in the INX Media and Aircel-Maxis cases has become one of the biggest targets for rival parties ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress is part of a nine-member alliance aiming to take back power in Tamil Nadu while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has teamed up with regional partners to make inroads into a state where it has little or no presence at all. In an interview, Karti spoke about the aspirations of the people, voters' disaffection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP's policies and other factors that would help the Congress alliance win the majority of 39 parliamentary seats in Tamil Nadu.
