New Delhi, July 26 -- In an ongoing war of letters, 62 prominent personalities from the Hindi film industry and beyond have signed an open letter in response to the "selective outrage and false narratives"-as they put it-of celebrities who had earlier written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over increased mob lynchings in the country. The original letter, written three days ago by 49 luminaries including such Bollywood figures as Aparna Sen, Shyam Benegal, Mani Ratnam and Anurag Kashyap, among others, had implored the PM to do something about intolerance in the country. The signatories expressed anxiety over attacks on minorities and the weaponization of the slogan "Jai Shri Ram", emphasizing that their missive was written in a spirit of healthy criticism and that it was not against any particular government....
