New Delhi, Nov. 6 -- Delhi high court on Wednesday issued notice to the central government on a public interest litigation (PIL) which challenges the constitutional validity of certain provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, Act, 1985 (NDPS) which prohibits the use of cannabis.

A bench headed by Chief Justice DN Patel further posted the matter on 5 Febraury.

The petition has been filed by Great Legalization Movement India Trust which has submitted that it has been at the forefront of the movement to decriminalize the use of cannabis and raising awareness with respect to its medicinal, industrial, ecological, economic and other benefits.
