New Delhi, Dec. 1 -- The Indian government has introduced two bills in the Lok Sabha: the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and the Health Security se National Security Cess Bill, 2025, to impose new levies on tobacco and pan masala products. The move is designed to maintain the current tax incidence on these "sin goods" after the existing GST compensation cess regime ends.
