India, Aug. 29 -- According to the scriptures, the relevance of fasting /upvas /vrat on Janmashtami - the Birthday of Lord Krishan stands explained by Himself to Yudhisthira, the eldest among Pandavas which is celebrated on the eighth day of the Hindu month of Bhadrava.

Janmashtami is a public holiday to be utilised as holy day by the people with faith. A person fasting on Janmashtami will always gain health, wealth, peace, progress and prosperity. It is believed that Krishan Janmashtami fasting is much more powerful than Ekadashi fasting.
