India, April 22 -- In Jaipur, April 20, was marked by celebration of Shab-e-Barat as it is believed that on this night Allah Tala descends to the nearest heaven or the Earth for granting absolution or forgiveness.

Muslims kept the fast and participated in prayers at various mosques in the city to be pardoned and blessed by the Almighty. The devout observed fasting, praying and performing religious acts such as charity.

It is also widely believed that on Shab-e-Barat, Prophet Muhammad himself strictly observed fast.
