SHILLONG, June 26 -- Due to the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases, the state government during a review meeting held in Shillong on Friday, has decided to restrict citizen from travelling to other states, including neighboring Assam.After chairing the meeting, the state Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong told reporters that the government had discussed about the situation in Assam, which has also announced a two-week of total lockdown from June 28.

"In view of the Assam's notification, we have directed the Chief Secretary to issue order through the respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure people are restricted from going outside the state," said Tynsong.
