Meghalaya govt to consider re-opening educational institutions post lockdown

SHILLONG, May 28 -- Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has said the government will take a call on reopening of educational institutions only when the ongoing national lockdown to combat against the COVID-19 pandemic, is lifted."We will take a call as and when the Government of India decides to lift the national lockdown," Rymbui told reporters after a cabinet meeting held on Thursday.
The minister further informed that the state government has also taken steps to ensure the academic career as well as the health safety of students is not compromised.
The lockdown and the consequent shutdown of schools and other educational institutions in the State have caused massive disruption in the education system.
