Lokayukta seeks probe into allegations of corruption in MDC scheme implementation
TURA, June 27 -- Meghalaya Lokayukta has asked for a probe into allegations of fund misuse in the development work meant for Williamnagar GHADC constituency and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya has been asked to lead the probe.The allegations was related to a case filed by social activist, Nilbath Ch. Marak against the former Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), Denang Sangma.
An amount of Rs. 3.35 Cr out of Rs. 100.71 was sanctioned for the development of Williamnagar, under various heads of the centre's special assistance during the year 2015-2016. Further, another amount of Rs. 1 Cr was sanctioned under the same scheme in 2018-2019.
