Shillong, Oct. 18 -- Meghalaya is sitting on a live volcano when it comes to Law and Order, particularly relating to trade and commerce in the state. The recent dispute over the street vendors is one. The undercurrent of tension due to insecurity caused by unemployment, lack of competitive spirit and poor work culture are some of the issues causing anxiety, leading to unrest and vandalizing of government property and other infrastructure. The figures of unemployment are ever increasing due to an absence of industries and enterprises which can generate more jobs.
