SHILLONG, June 11 -- A leader of the Khasi Students' Union (KSU) was arrested for his alleged involvement in the recent assault of an engineer at a village in South West Khasi Hills district.A statement issued by the district police chief Maxwell B Syiem on Thursday informed that Rutherford Lyngdoh (35) was arrested on Wednesday based on specific inputs received during the course of investigation into the incident.

Lyngdoh is the general secretary of the KSU Mawkyrwat Circle.

An engineer of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), Ranikor was assaulted by a group of about 10-12 miscreants at Nonglang village on Wednesday.
