SHILLONG, March 20 -- The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council is proposing to hike the fee for trading license and has constituted a committee to examine the matter.It has also decided to strictly implement the provisions of the KHAD (Trading by Non-Tribals) Regulation Act, 1954 which include restriction to issue trading license to non-tribal traders on trades which are being carried out by the tribal traders.

The decision was taken at the first review meeting convened by executive member in charge of trade, Paul Lyngdoh with the officials of the department here on Wednesday.
