While such tactics have also been adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the erstwhile rule of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), matters took an intense turn after the 2009 Lok Sabha Election, where the former National Democratic Alliance (NDA) got a taste of its own medicine.
