SHILLONG, June 12 -- The COVID-19 active cases in the state have reduced to 24, after another positive patient from Garo Hills was declared recovered on Friday."Altogether 19 patients have recovered from the infection. We now have only 24 active cases in the state," Health Minister AL Hek told reporters.

He said East Khasi Hills district is presently having 10 active cases, 5 West Jaintia Hills, 5 West Garo Hills and 4 South West Garo Hills.

All active cases are mainly returnees from different parts of the country recently except for the 72-year-old man.

Hek further informed that of 12,513 samples sent for testing, 12,169 were negative while test results of 300 are awaited.
