Shillong, May 17 -- Meghalaya Health Minister, AL Hek on Sunday informed that all the 873 returnees from Chennai have tested negative for COVID-19.On arrival the 873 were registered, screened and tested with the Rapid Test Kits and 12 tested positive. The 12 includes, seven from East Khasi Hills, four from Tura and one from Ri- Bhoi District.

The samples of the twelve were run for a RT-PCR confirmatory test and while four from Tura and one from Ri- Bhoi tested negative on Saturday, the seven hailing from East Khasi Hills tested negative on Sunday.

"It is a big relief for the Government with all the 12 who were initially tested positive by the Rapid Diagnostic Kit (RDK) has finally come out negative in the RT-PCR test," said Hek.
