Assam re-imposes two weeks total lockdown from June 29 to check COVID-19 surge
Shillong, June 26 -- The announcement made by the Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 26, 2020 that a total lockdown in Guwahati will come into effect from June 29 and will continue for the two weeks, after a sharp surge in new Coronavirus patients was recorded in the last ten days. From next week, only pharmacies and hospitals will be allowed to open in the city and a 12 hour night curfew from 7 pm to 7 am will be imposed across the state from June 26. Sarma had also stressed, "Please finish your shopping by Sunday," has turned the city into a mad rush along with panic purchase till the imposition of curfew.
