Shillong, June 3 -- Taking a bold step, Meghalaya had on June 3, 2020 permitted movement of people, private and commercial vehicles within the state and also lifting the ban on inter-district movement. However, inter-state movement is still restricted, hence, there is a short supply of essential commodities, particularly the green vegetables and live stocks, where the vendors were compelled to sell all items almost double the price on day one of state opening up. The District Administration did not anticipate the sudden rise of demand, as the local produces is not sufficient to meet the requirement.
