TURA, April 22 -- The biggest religious congregation of Hindus in the region began on Monday at the village of Babedpara under Selsella in West Garo Hills with the start of the annual 'Charantala Mela'. The 3-day festival is dedicated to Goddess Kali and has been held at the same place for the past 54 years.While April 23 is expected to be the biggest day in terms of devotees pouring in, many will begin the trek on foot from wherever they may be in Garo Hills to be able to be present at the site to pay their obeisance on the morning of April 23. April 24 will be the concluding day of the religious gathering.
