SINGAPORE, Oct. 14 -- A 52-year-old woman who fatally stabbed her husband during a scuffle at a void deck in Ang Mo Kio last year was sentenced to 31 months' jail on Tuesday.

According to CNA, Baniyah Shap, a Singaporean, admitted to seven charges including a rash act causing death, possession of a foldable knife, and perverting the course of justice by washing and hiding the weapon after the stabbing.

The court heard that Baniyah's husband, 62-year-old Ali Saaban, had followed her to the void deck after an argument at home before a confrontation broke out.

An autopsy later revealed that he died from bleeding caused by a stab wound to his right femoral artery.
