KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 12 -- The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) has cautioned that sudden, blanket enforcement of lorry load limits could disrupt logistics operations and the national supply chain even as it voiced support for the government's commitment to improving road safety.

The chamber said while compliance with load limits was a legal duty and social responsibility, current restrictions were based mainly on bridge capacities rather than vehicle specifications, causing inefficiencies across the transport sector.
