SINGAPORE, Nov. 8 -- A 24-year-old construction worker died following a workplace accident at a landed property in Bedok on November 6.
The Straits Times reported that the man had been repairing a malfunctioning automatic sliding gate at a home along Jalan Pari Burong, near Upper Changi Road, when the gate collapsed onto him.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police were alerted to the incident at around 4:05pm.
He was found unconscious and rushed to Changi General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations by the police do not suggest foul play.
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM), responding to media queries, confirmed that the worker had been troubleshooting the gate when it toppled.
