KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 29 -- Hong Kong activist Nathan Law has reportedly been refused entry into Singapore after the authorities deemed his presence not in the country's national interest.

According to Singapore's CNA, the island-nation's Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said Law arrived at Changi Airport from San Francisco on Saturday and was referred for questioning, immigration and security assessment.

"Law's entry into and presence in the country would not be in Singapore's national interests," MHA reportedly said in a statement in response to queries from CNA.

"A visa holder is still subject to further checks at point of entry into the country. That is what happened with Nathan La," MHA reportedly added.
