KOTA BHARU, Sept. 30 -- Nearly two million motorists risk being blacklisted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) for failing to resolve outstanding traffic summonses for various offences, some dating back more than 15 years.

RTD senior enforcement director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said the cases involve summonses issued under the Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS) as well as other common traffic violation notices, the New Straits Times reported.

In total, more than 1.45 million AWAS summonses, 296,684 Notices 114, and 164,598 Notices 115 remain unpaid.
