MIRI, Oct. 27 -- A telecommunications tower in Senadin here was partially damaged after it caught fire late last night.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a report on the fire was received at 10.39pm.

A team from the Lutong fire station was sent to the location around 13km away.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the fire had caused damage to around 60 per cent of the telecommunications tower.

"The firefighting operation used a 200-foot flow hose, one nozzle, and water pumped from a nearby fire hydrant," Bomba said in a statement.

The fire was fully extinguished within 35 minutes.
