KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 19 -- A car salesman has been remanded for four days for allegedly hiring two men to fake a robbery involving more than RM60,000 of his own money in Jalan Kampung Gajah, Butterworth, last Wednesday.

The two men, a lorry driver and a security guard, were also remanded for the same period to assist police investigations.

Magistrate Aini Adilah Muhammad Faizal issued the order at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrates' Court today.

According to Malaysia Gazette, the trio, all in police custody, arrived at the court compound at about 9.35am under police escort.

Police said the 42-year-old salesman, who initially claimed he had been robbed by two men on a motorcycle, later emerged as the key suspect.
