KUCHING, Oct. 31 -- Police have confirmed that the body found inside a car parked at a shopping mall along Jalan Song here on Wednesday was that of a woman reported missing several days ago.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said police received a report at 1.55pm from a member of the public who found an unconscious woman inside a vehicle at the mall's parking area.

He said a team was dispatched to the scene to verify the report and found the woman lying in the driver's seat.

"Firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya fire station were called to assist in opening the vehicle, which was locked from the inside.

"The woman was later confirmed dead by medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital," he said in a statement yesterday.
