SERIAN, Oct. 5 -- A freak mishap claimed the life of a man at Kampung Cina Buntak here yesterday, after he was crushed by a car he was repairing.

Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian said the victim, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

"The victim was repairing his car when the jack collapsed, causing the car to crush him," he said in a statement.

He said the victim's wife had filed a police report over the incident, with further inves-tigations ongoing.

Separately, two persons were injured after the lorry they were travelling was involved in a single-vehicle crash at Mile 26 Jalan Kuching-Serian yesterday evening.
