KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 25 -- PAS assemblyman Mohd Shafie Ngah has issued an unconditional public apology to Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan, resolving a defamation lawsuit filed by the DAP lawmaker.

Shafie acknowledged that his statements had falsely suggested Syahredzan was not a sincere and devout Muslim, and that he supported communist ideology.

The settlement was recorded as a consent judgment at the High Court here on Sept 22, 2025.

As part of the settlement, Shafie also confirmed he had violated an interim injunction issued by the High Court on Feb 19, 2024, which had already barred him from making similar defamatory statements.
